Record breaking GCSEs
Posted on: 24/08/2017Copthall students hit new heights with outstanding GCSE results, bucking the national trend and putting the school a huge 12% above the national average”.
Copthall School are celebrating yet another year of successful GCSE results, with students surpassing the highest expectations to exceed the National Average for All Schools and All Girl Schools. Copthall students received 80% A* - C or 9 – 4 grades, which overshadows the National Average by 12%. 30% of Copthall's students were awarded A*- A or 9-7 grades which puts them 10% above the National Average and 8% above the All Girl School National Average.
English and Maths are the first subjects to take on the new grading system, where students received a grade between 1- 9. 21% of Copthall students received the highest award possible and achieved 9-7 grade in Maths, and 25% of students achieved grade 9-7 in English exceeding both the National Average and All Girl School National Average. Futhermore, these results show an incredible 16% rise in top grades for English.
There were some other outstanding performances across a range of departments including Biology (100% A*-C), RE (94% A*-C), Spanish (90% A*-C) and English Literature (87% 9-4 grade), despite the national changes to this year's GCSE examination.
Other subject success includes:
Art and Design - 89% A*-C
Geography - 85% A*-C
History - 82% A*-C
The positive trajectory of GCSE results achieved by students this year reinforces Copthall's pledge to ensure all students have the support and assistance required to succeed. These results have established a strong platform for students to launch into their next route, whether it is further education, training or employment. The school is looking forward to welcoming back many successful students to Copthall Sixth Form.
Nabeeha has achieved an incredible 2x9, 1x8, 4A* and 4A, and is looking forward to starting Copthall Sixth Form in September.
