Duke of Edinburgh
As part of wider achievement at Copthall, students in year 10 are invited to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme – an internationally recognised qualification. Throughout the award students have the opportunity to learn new skills, to spend time volunteering at school or with an outside organisation and to improve upon their physical fitness. Alongside this, students spend two weekends camping in the Chiltern Hills where they learn a range of new skills such as putting up tents, navigating and outdoor cooking. The award promotes independence, responsibility, maturity and commitment. All of these skills are a valuable lesson to the students and ones which will help each participate reach their full potential as they continue their journey through education and into the future.
