6th Form University Application Update
Posted on: 28/02/2018Monday 15th January saw the 2018 university applications come to a close with 60 applications having successfully been sent to UCAS for our current Year 13 students, including 7 gap year students from last year. In addition one 2018 leaver has decided to take a gap year, 2 will start apprenticeships, 3 will start further education at college and 7 directly into employment. There have been 190 offers including 32 Russell group university offers, 2 of which are unconditional. There have been 42 interviews, all of which have been successful so far; almost all students received an unconditional or lower grade offer. We are so proud! Russell group success has also been really encouraging with our top students so far successful in almost all of their Russell Group applications. It will soon be time for students to start choosing their Firm and Insurance choices.
A particular congratulations this year goes to Charlotte Francis and Tahmina Nabi who are the proud recipients of the ‘Outstanding Potential Award’ at Queen Mary University London, awarding them an unconditional offer to study at this Russell Group institution.
Our Year 12 students have been preparing for their application cycle which begins in May 2018. A group of students participated in our Oxbridge programme with a talk from an Oxford graduate and a visit to Oxford University. We will of course also look at School Leaver Programmes, Apprenticeships, Foundation courses, and preparing our school leavers for employment. Students received a talk from Destiny Butler Cook (Alumnae from 2016) studying in the USA, who spoke about her experiences studying abroad.
There are a wealth of opportunities that exist for our young people at post 18. Our aim at Copthall is to ensure all our students are equipped to pursue these opportunities, in order to maximise their potential and be successful young women in the future.
