Copthall School’s ‘rapid’ transformation recognised by Ofsted | Times Series

A school which told it required improvement has been told it is ‘good’ by Ofsted inspectors.

Copthall School in Mill Hill received the result in May two years after being given the second lowest rating, in 2016.

Lead Ofsted inspector Rosemarie McCarthy said: “The decisive leadership of the new headteacher, supported by senior leaders and governors has transformed this school.

“The behaviour of pupils is good.

“The pupils are polite and welcoming to visitors.

“Pupils attend school regularly and show a positive attitude towards their learning”.

It has now reclaimed its previous grade with inspectors praising the school’s sixth form.

Ms McCarthy said that the school supported its pupils with their next steps in higher education, training and employment.

she added: “A sense of community exists, where students benefit from secure teaching, and strong outcomes and support to help them prepare for their future lives.”

Copthall School headteacher, Evelyn Forde said: “I am bursting with pride for our staff, students and governing body for the rapid improvements we have all made.

"I would like to thank them for their phenomenal support and hard work.

“The Ofsted report captures the significant changes we have put in place and recognises the upward trajectory our school is heading.

“We acknowledge that there are further improvements that need to be made.

“We are committed to building on the positive changes now in place as we continue our journey to outstanding.”
