Copthall Art Mural on Display in the NW7 HUB, Mill Hill
Posted on: 13/02/2019On Thursday 7th February there was an event after school in the Mill Hill Library for the unveiling of the mural painted by Copthall students where councillor Lisa Rutter presented certificates to the students involved and tea and cakes were served.
The mural was commissioned by the NW7 Hub - a Community Centre and Café in the Library Building and the brief was to reflect the local area and its community.
The project was started with 36 talented Art students from Years 7-10 in July 2018 and was completed during a weekly lunchtime club up until Christmas 2018.
The mural is divided into 6 large panels and mixed groups of six students painted each panel.
The finished mural is a fantastic vibrant piece of work and a great show case of Copthall’s student’s creativity. The staff at the NW7hub are delighted with their finished Art work and say it has really lifted the feeling of the room. The project was a really big undertaking but I am really proud of the final outcome which looks amazing and does really reflect the local community as well as our students. Please do pop in to see it if you are in the area, it will hopefully be there for many years to come!
Thanks also to Linda Blindt for helping me bring it all together and for Stella Cooper (Y13 Photography) for taking photos on the day.
