COP26 Year 7 Assembly
Posted on: 11/11/2021COP26 took place at the beginning of November, the staff and students of Copthall School took the opportunity to talk about climate change. All year groups had assemblies and completed form time activities to find out more about COP26 and the causes and impacts of climate change. Most importantly, we discussed what we can do on a global, local and individual level to tackle the growing threat of global warming.
Following the activities, we ask students and staff to commit to making one change to their daily lives to reduce their carbon footprint. Please find a selection below:
“To bring a reusable water bottle to school rather than buying single use plastic water bottles” - Salma, 9T
“I will shut down my computer at the end of every day and turn the lights off in my classroom when I am not using it. Moreover, I will use public transport, cycle more and stick to a vegetarian diet.” - Miss Cuaresma
“Using all the lines in our books, so we don't waste paper” - Rida, 7A
“I will stop using the plastic cutlery in the Copthall Canteen, and bring my own.” - Ms Novelli
“To be more water efficient e.g. Less than 15 minutes in the shower.” - Mumtaz and Diba, 11C
“I will reduce the amount of meat I eat in a week.” - Khadija, 8H
“Aim to buy goods with less packaging.” - Ms Viala
“I will reduce my screen time and turn off appliances instead of leaving them on standby.” - Mariam, 8P
We encourage the entire Copthall School community to try some of the activities and consider how you too can help to fight climate change with small changes.
