New library

Almost exactly a year ago, we ran a survey to ask Copthall students what they would most like to have in their school library. We had a great response, and our students were very clear about what they wanted – more computers, a brighter and more modern space, more comfortable spaces to sit and read and a range of seating options for revision and study.

We listened! After many, many months of planning and working with a range of library design companies, we’re delighted that our newly refurbished library is open to students again. Our site team did an amazing job through the summer to prepare the space and the installation took place just as the new school year began.

The final result is just fantastic. Students have been pouring in all week and the feedback has been nothing short of ecstatic. Comments include ‘It seems so much bigger!’, ‘It’s so lovely and bright!’, ‘It looks like a proper library now!’, ‘I’m going to be here all the time now!’, ‘This is my favourite part of the school’ – jaws have literally dropped, and chefs’ kisses blown in speechless delight.

It’s been lovely to see sixth formers using the space well in their free periods, and break and lunch times have been busier than ever. We absolutely love our new library and hope that it will give much pleasure to our students for many years to come.
