Barnet School Awards 2017 - Copthall School, 4 nominations and 2 awards

Barnet and Southgate College, in partnership with the North London Press Group, launched the Barnet School Awards to elevate and celebrate the amazing and unique achievements of students and staff in Barnet Schools. Copthall had four nominations, Iqra Shahzad, Julia Blackman, Kathryn Morris and Claire Clark.
Kathryn Morris was nominated for the Unsung Hero award, for her work she does with our students, Learning support department and her role as a Teaching Assistant.
Claire Clark, a Year 11 student was nominated for the Inspirational student of the year. Claire was recognised for her dedication to her studies and tireless effort in improving her English proficiency. Claire has acted as a buddy and translator to new students. “Claire is a polite, friendly and hardworking student who is always happy to help others”.
It was an incredible evening, full of people that are truly inspirational and committed to the work they do. A huge congratulations to Iqra Shahzad and Julia Blackman on winning an award each.
Iqra Shahzad is our Head Girl and Year 13 student. Iqra has overcome challenging circumstances this past year, juggling 4 A Levels, alongside her responsibilities as Head girl. She actively supports and promotes the education and success of other young women in the local community. Iqra fully supports our core values and has successfully permeated them throughout the school to support us on our journey. She is caring, hardworking and a true inspiration.
Julia Blackman is our Chair of Governors. Julia won the Governor’s award for Secondary Schools. Julia is completely dedicated to Copthall School; she actively visits the school and engages with all stakeholders. Julia has really raised the profile of the school, we are very lucky to have her.
