Sixth Form Admissions

Our Sixth Form entry requirements are that all students will need to have obtained the following qualifications:

• at least 4 GCSES at a grade 4 or a Pass equivalent in a vocational subject
• obtained a grade 4 in at least English or Maths GCSE
• Obtained the subject specific grade requirement for the subject they are applying for – see below table

Once these minimum requirements have been met students will then take one of two pathways:

Pathway One: Students will typically have a grade 4 or above in English and Maths and an average grade of a 4 in their other subjects. Students will study either a vocational selection of subjects, or a mixture of vocational subjects and an academic A Level, so long as the individual entry requirements are met.

Pathway Two: Students will typically have a grade 5 or above in English and Maths and grades 5-9 in other subjects. Students on pathway three will study a choice of academic or A Levels as long as they meet the entry requirements for each individual subject.

Alongside meeting the academic requirements above, attendance is expected to be on average above 95% and students are expected to have an excellent behaviour record in order to be offered a place at Copthall Sixth Form.
